Hello, y’all!!! Today is a day to celebrate good times COME ON!
Whether you’re single, married, affianced, betrothed, or simply spellbound, today is the day kick it with your ladies. Your crew. Your peeps. Yo’ gurlfrands!
No seriously, drop your significant other like a hot potato, and grab your besties because it’s the day eat waffles with your girls.
For my newbies, Galentine’s Day is a day of celebration. It’s all about ladies celebrating ladies, breakfast style!
Last year, we discussed all the great reasons we have Galentines. Obviously, you’ve known most of your Galentines way longer than most significant others that you’ve had. So let’s go back to the people that have been there for you to make your life awesome!
So today, I just want to offer up suggestions for a successful Galentine’s Day.
The founder of Galentine’s Day, Leslie Knope, notes that it is imperative to eat waffles on Galentine’s Day, so make sure you grease that griddle and stock up on syrup.
Next, it’s always helpful to make a pretty cocktail. Whether you’re single and this is your excuse to drink something pink for once, or if you’re a married woman whose husband prefers drinking beer, we all know that a cute cocktail is all you need today.
I suggest this yummy rose-tini… but you can go with wine, gin and tonic, or even beer. Just be authentic, for Galentine’s Day is not about any pretenses. It’s not about going old school!
Next, it’s time to pick something fun to do. I suggest finding the thing you love doing most with your friends. Personally, I will try to peer pressure my in-town bestie into a dance party (because I am not Mira “Left-Feet” McC in the comfort of my own home).
Instead, I am a dancing queen!! (JK, but seriously, your friends know you can’t dance! Just do it!)
Other favorite activities are giving backrubs, doing your nails, gardening (because, why not?), going out for a hike (especially if you’re snowed in), hitting the gym, throwing pillows at each other (no, nobody does this! This was a test!). Chiefly, just do what your gals love to do most! BE YOUR QUIRKY SELVES and have fun! And also, be nice to people tomorrow. Not everybody is getting chocolate or flowers, so maybe treat a single lady to some chocolove (it comes with a sonnet)!
What are you doing for Galentine’s Day? If your gal pals are out of town, go out and make some new ones for next year. I recommend Meetup.com for any cause, hobby or fun activity, such as but not limited to: Girl Develop It, hiking extravaganzas, dance clubs, movie night groups, chicklit bookclubs, gal’s night out series, or anything you can think of that will connect you to awesome gals in your hood.
Please comment, share your thoughts and let me know what you think. Please help me keep this a positive forum, though. I am so excited for some debate, but let’s respect each other please. I reserve the right to monitor and delete inappropriate posts. Thanks in advance!
Also, what??? So annoying.
