Isn’t there something absolutely optimistic about summer? Today I lounged in a patio chair with a good book and a glass of white wine, and wondered why I’ve been so hard on myself.

Isn’t it important to get fresh air? And to read good fiction? And sip on that Trader Joe’s wine like the day-drinker I’ll never be?

I’ve decided that while I am going to do my best to stay on top of blogging and writing this summer, that I am also not going to miss out on opportunities just to meet my weekly quota.

Well, partly because I totally failed my yoga quota last week by only going once! But I also because I had the two most stressful work weeks I’ve had in eons… which reminded me that I’m also entitled to nap, read and enjoy fresh air on a weekend, gosh dang it!

If you have to be responsible in your work life, then I’m pretty sure you can be irresponsible during your life-life, once a while.

Do you guys think about these things? Or am I the only over-analyzer that doesn’t know what to do with her free time even though six months ago she had never heard of the concept?

Anyways, back to enjoying my summer! I plan to lock away my brain on weekends, spend all my free time outdoors, spend more time than ever with my besties, watch tons of fun movies… Btw, did anyone see Melissa McCarthy’s Spy?! ANYONE?! It was as hilarious as promised! It also got 95% on Rotten Tomatoes… Uh yeah! Funny and clever… and a summer blockbuster!! That never happens!

In case you haven’t seen her movie yet, please do!  Melissa is one of the funniest peeps ever!!

You laughing yet?

Are you enjoying your summertime freedom and weekends of good weather by being productive, spending time with friends, reading a book poolside… or what?! Give me some ideas for my summertime!

Please comment, share your thoughts and let me know what you think. Please help me keep this a positive forum, though. I am so excited for some debate, but let’s respect each other please. I reserve the right to monitor and delete inappropriate posts. Thanks in advance!

  1. Love this, Mirabelle! You definitely deserve some downtime. Can’t way to see Spy! My summer so far has included reading, writing, concerts, movies, yoga, tennis, and even a boat ride! I recommend all those things. If you get a chance, we had the time of our lives at a Mumford and Sons concert. I’m a Stephen King junkie and read 2 of his books, the novel turned soon to be movie Martian, and one I think you would like was A House in the Sky. On my movie recommendation list is Far from the Madding Crowd. Hope you continue to have some rest and relaxation between all your hard work! Happy summering!
